Tips for Improving Your Brushing Routine

Having a proper and effective brushing technique is very important for a top-notch oral health and smile. This is why your dentist, Dr. Shay Markovitch, strongly encourages you to do everything you can to correctly clean your teeth. To help you do so, he has some helpful tips to share. Those tips are:

-Make sure to brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time.

-Use short, gentle strokes as you scrub.

-Be gentle as you brush along the gums. This is important because the gums can be harmed if you brush too vigorously.

-Make sure to thoroughly clean the hard-to-reach teeth and dental restorations in your mouth.

-Use this checklist as you brush:

Brush the outer surfaces of the top teeth.
Brush the outer surfaces of the bottom teeth.
Brush the inside surfaces of the top teeth.
Brush the inside surfaces of the bottom teeth.
Brush the top surfaces of every tooth.
Brush the top of the tongue.
-Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums as you scrub.

-Use a soft-bristled toothbrush with the American Dental Association’s Seal of Acceptance.
